A type of telescope mount whose axis is aligned parallel with the Earth's axis of rotation. This enables celestial objects to be tracked as they move across the sky with the constant adjustment of only one axis, the equatorial (right ascension).
Equatorial mounts come in different designs. Common varieties used in amateur telescope set-ups are the "German Equatorial Mount" and the "Open Fork Mount".
