Almost uniformly distributed omni-directional radiation that's a direct remnant of the Big Bang event, which occurred 13.7 billion years ago, marking the beginning of the Universe. The once infinitely hot thermal radiation has now cooled down to a temperature of only 2.725K and primarily radiates in the microwave region of the electromagnetic spectrum.
